Dear Heather,

I am a board certified lactation consultant that also has used oils for a couple of years and I spoke to Dr. Hill one time about engorgement.   At 4 days postpartum, you are experiencing not just milk volume, but swelling and some degree of inflammation with the milk supply getting started.  The maternity book recommends citrus bliss, but as I recall, he would have used others.  You may also want to try some cypress to help circulation or lemon for swelling and frankincense would reduce inflammation as well as ice packs 10-15 min. around the bottom/sides of the breasts every 1-2 hours.    Make sure you have a good breast pump to soften the breast prior to latching baby on if you're too full .  This helps get the milk supply flowing some and  also everts the nipple so baby can find it easier.  Try to offer every 2-3 hours and express if you are uncomfortably full.  You can point the baby's nose or chin toward the plugged area and use some massage while baby is nursing .  You may also want to look up "reverse pressure softening" on a search engine and see if that technique helps you out.   It has been tremendously helpful to get baby latched during this time.  Lavender and basil would help a  milk supply and both have pain relieving qualities to them.  Roman Chamomile is very soothing to tissue and relaxes , which may help with a milk letdown.  Let me know if this helps you—I am somewhat new at recommending them for these issues, but my heart goes out to you and I love these oils!

I have a niece who experiences severe migraines while pregnant and
nursing I got her some PastTense but it did not seem to work for her.
Any suggestions

I have had a lot of luck with balance on my jaw joints and down the
jaw line, and aroma touch on the back of my neck, rubbed into the
"bumps" on the back of my neck and head, and on my shoulders to work
out the tightness and kinks, to ease up the headache.

I dont' know if mine are really migraines, but that is the only thing
I have found that will touch the headahces- I know they get worse when
I grind my teeth at night (bite splint from the dentist helps a lot
too)

Good luck.

Hi there, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. The Immortelle
I put on after the toner and then I use the serum right after the
Immortelle, I usually wait about a minute to let the toner dry:) I use
the Immortelle all over the face, but I only dab it in a few spots and
then blend it in. I would definitely apply the frankincense/
helichrysum combo at the same time as the Immortelle, I would suggest
layering the oils instead of putting them together. The oils I
recommend for blemishes would be melalueca or clear skin, and for the
scarring I would do the others we already discussed. Also don't forget
to include the neck and decollete in all of this, it is considered to
be a part of your face;) I also recommend doing the candida cleanse
for acne also the phytoestrogen will help with that since its meant to
balance hormones.

I use different oils depending on the skin type, I follow the facial
protocal recommended in the spa manual, also I use the peppermint and
wild orange in my pedicure water mainly because it antibacterial and
it smells good;)

Thanks for the info Trista. It's very helpful.
I'm going to start using the immortelle on the entire face from now.

I have to share this success story with all. A friend of mine is a
foster parent and takes in children under the age of 2. The last
child she took in was only 5 days old and was born addicted to crack-
cocaine.

She said the baby's cry is so ear piercing and shatterering that
everyone in the household was disrupted and going without sleep. She
only had the trio kit and tried the lavender on the babies feet. The
baby began to sleep better and longer but did not help when the crying
started.

She told me she doesn't know why she did this but she took her pinky
finger and touched the top of the peppermint bottle and put that tiny
drop on top of the babies soft spot and the baby began to calm down
immediately and stopped crying. She has been using this now to calm
the baby down and is noticing changes in her temperment and response
to touch.

She was amazed and had tears in her eyes when she told me this. The
power of these oils to help the body heal itself and they are truely a
gift to be shared with all.

I have a customer that loves the smell of balance and would like to
wear this as a perfume. The scent does not stay on very long. I mixed
it with our Fractionated Coconut Oil but the smell still does not
stay. Any suggestions on what I can use to help the smell stay around
a little longer?

I've searched this site and google to see which doterra oil to use for
breastfeeding. I am engorged and starting a plugged milk duct. I'm
afraid to take anything to increase or decrease the milk supply since
my baby is 4 days old and I need to establish a good supply. Geranium
and clary sage increase, peppermint decreases. I've tried lavender,
melaleuca, and frankincense together with coconut oil but am not sure
if it's working or not. I'm either not putting enough on, or need to
change oils.

Please help!

I am new to essential oils. Is there a recipe for treating head lice
with melaluca oil? Does anyone have a recipe?

shannon nelson <shannikitty@gmail.com> Feb 16 12:04PM -0800

Hello, I have been using doTERRA oils since November. I struggle with
chronic migraines and cystic acne, pcos, among other things so they
have been very helpful to me. I work in an office and had some people
around me complain that they were allergic to the scents I was using,
even when I explained what they were and HR and my manager got
involved. I (and the two people on my team) moved to another part of
the building.

Now, maybe a month or so later, my manager and HR called me out to say
that people are leaving early due to nausea, itching eyes and nose,
etc. and it is being attributed to me. Even when I don't use the oils,
people are complaining. I was told that it is maybe a scent permeated
into my coat/scarf etc. And they say that if I stop using them and
have migraines reoccur, I should fill out new FMLA paperwork to
protect my job.

I feel so frustrated. Has anyone encountered anything like this?

Nikki -

While I am at home I use about three to five drops of lemon oil in a mason
jar. If I am traveling, I use a stainless steel travel mug. The oil
won't corrode the steel.

Hope this helps.

I generally flavor my water to taste. I like 3-4 drops per 16
ounces.

I use mason jars for my water, either pint or quart jars, and use the
screw on lids when I travel. We also drink out of mason jars at home
and I use them for food storage as well so it just simplifies things.
People frequently ask me if I'm drinking moonshine (I'm in the
south).

Which oils would be good to relieve a pitch nerve in back. The person
sometime can not get out of bed and she is in her early 30ths. Help!
(Posted for Carmen from EverythingEssential.me)

Carmen, having personally gone thru this including visits to Emergency
Room, medical doctors and failed pharmaceuticals plus chiropractic
help (some help) I know the oils can be a great great help. The
following from EverythingEssential.me/Back Pain is what you need to
do. Unfortunately it is not something that is resolved
instantaneously, it takes some patience and consistency. AromaTouch
Technique soon and often will be the biggest help!!!

Oils for immediate pain relief:

· Deep Blue, birch, or wintergreen

· Apply 2 -3 drops topically to the area where the pain is manifested
as often as required or use Deep Blue Rub. (For some wintergreen may
need to be applied with a carrier.)

· To make the AromaTouch Technique or other oils and blends applied
to the back more effective use a hot compress after the application to
drive the oils deeper into the tissues and muscles.

Oils to reduce inflammation:

· Basil, bergamot, myrrh, Roman chamomile, rosemary, or wintergreen

· Apply topically to spinal area. This is the location on the spine
where the nerve is being pinched and will probably be different that
where numbness or lack of strength or even muscle cramps occur. For
example, if numbness and loss of strength is in the leg then the lower
back area where the sciatic nerve originates may well be where there
is nerve compression. Two or three drops topically 2 - 3 times
daily. (For some wintergreen may need to be applied with a carrier.)

Oils to relax muscles and eliminate spasms:

· AromaTouch, helichrysum, lavender, marjoram, or melissa

· Apply 2 - 3 drops topically to the area where the spasm is
occurring.

Oils to increase circulation:

· Citrus Bliss, cypress, eucalyptus, geranium, lemon, or peppermint

· Apply 2 -3 drops topically to the spinal area 2 -3 times per day

Oils to heal and regenerate tissue:

· Frankincense, helichrysum, or sandalwood

· Apply 1 -2 drops topically to the spinal area 2 -3 times per day
followed by a hot compress

I had severe back pain for over 40 years due to a sledding accident when I
was a child. In August I started with Deep Blue, Wintergreen, White Fir and
Past Tense, layered in that order on a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil. I
added Lemongrass after a few days which helped even more. I also started
the Lifelong Vitality Supplements at that time. I received almost immediate
relief from the start (not complete relief, but immediate). Over the course
of three or four weeks the LLV started giving me almost complete relief
without daily application of the other oils, I do apply those when I am
going to be doing heavy work that would inflame the condition. I am
currently almost pain free, but there is still stiffness. I started the GX
Assist a week ago on Pat's advice in hopes that this will help me with the
stiffness. So far no measurable improvement yet but I am still crossing my
fingers.

Birch has also helped (once we got it) with the periodic flare-ups or if I
strain myself.

So, LLV is a MUST in my experience.

My nursing baby got a yeast rash after I took the gx assist (which I
stopped taking shortly thereafter). I used vagisil/lotrimin to get it
under control and ever since it has come back about weekly and lasts a
few days at a time. I've read melaluca can help but wondering if
anyone else has had success with a specific oil. I tried that the 1st
time the yeast showed up when it was really raw and it didn't do
anything for him. I'd love any thoughts as I feel so uneasy about
using those creams long term like this on my 6 month old baby.

I'm also wondering if his clothing still has the fungus on it and is
reinfecting him b/c I keep the neck area pretty clean. Has anyone
tried oils in their wash that won't ruin the clothing or an HE washer?
Kinda nervous about it messing up the washer b/c it's pretty new. I've
also thought about using vinegar but you're not supposed to use it in
an HE washing machine. Thanks everyone!

Yes social security numbers are required any time a company issues an
individual a check unless they have an EIN. Keep in mind if you have an
EIN, the IRS is going to want to see an extra schedule on your tax
return, like a schedule C.
