slept like a dream. I would drop him in his crib at 7 pm and get him
out of his crib at 7 am. I would never hear a peep from him during
that time.
Everything changed when he turned two. He had some traumatic life
events happen all at once (his grandpa--a caregiver--died, he went off
his reflux meds, we moved, we got rid of the crib, and his daddy had a
nervous breakdown and was hospitalized). He went from sleeping like a
dream to not sleeping. There were nights that he woke up SCREAMING and
not easy to console ever 20 minutes or so all night! Out of
desperation I started letting him sleep in my bed with me. He
snuggled right up to me and would even wrap his arm around my neck. We
have tried and tried to get him sleeping on his own without much
success.
He now fights to go to bed every night. Most nights it requires bribes
and allowing him to stay up until he is just too tired to fight sleep
any longer. We have moved a toddler bed next to our bed and if he
falls asleep in the rocking chair with me, I will put him to bed in
the toddler bed. Usually he only stays in it for about 2 hours. If he
wakes up for any reason, he cries and begs to get in bed with me. I
am a teacher and can't afford to stay up all night fighting a toddler
to sleep, so he gets his way and becomes my bed leach (he attaches
himself to me).
I have never used oils before, but nothing else is working for this
kid! Please help one very tired mommy get her very tired toddler to
sleep in his own bed the entire night!
