[Everything doTERRA] Re: chicken health and treatment

I have been playing with the oils and our chickens, but not very
confidently. Recently we notice a gurgling sound coming from a couple
of birds. We were very concerned and separated them. The next day only
a few weren't coughing, sneezing or gurgling. (We have about 40
chickens. This is our first flock ever.) We put raw apple cider
vinegar in their water (about 1 tablespoon per Gallon), about the same
amount of raw honey, and garlic in the feed (we just used granulated
garlic, just sprinkled it on the food). It's been about three days and
they seem to be fine. We still have a few sneezing, but it seems to
have passed. We never had a diagnosis and we have been experiencing
some smoke from fires close by, so it might have just been that. But
they seem well and strong.
We have an open coop so diffusing seems ineffective and I hadn't
thought about putting oils in their water. I think we'll try that. I
did spray some breathe into the laying boxes. Also we have
successfully used lavender on several owies. Our dog was "playing"
with a hen and put four fairly deep puncture wounds in her neck. We
figured she was gone and we didn't have anything to loose so we put
lavender on her neat. We got the oil on within minutes after she was
hurt. She laid still for about 15 minutes and then got up slowly and
walked very slowly. She was wobbly and slow for the next several
hours, but by the next day we couldn't figure out which hen it
was.That was pretty amazing.
Good luck and let us know what you try. We have not been able to
find much information on chickens and essential oils in general. Seems
like most people are scared to use them on such small birds. Perhaps a
valid concern, perhaps they haven't experienced Doterra :)
