Re: [Everything doTERRA] Re: Bergamot Oil - Cholesterol

Thanks Diane!

I totally mixed up my comments and switched it from cholesterol to thyroid! So, I have issues with both. I had 80% of my thyroid removed because of polyps and I'm taking 150mcg of levothyroxin.and have been working up to that since I first went on meds 11 years ago. I'm also vegan (though I do make an exception and take the xEOmega caps with fish oil, until they come out with the vegan version, because I know I need them)

I don't eat much processed food, I cook from scratch most of the time, and prefer coconut milk to soy or other nut milks. I also like sea greens and use kelp powder a lot.

I've done the GX Assist/PB Assist and I'm pretty sure I'm free of any candida overload.

I'm just scared to take the plunge and go off my meds completely. There was a time last year when I didn't take them for about 6 months because I couldn't afford them, but now I'm unemployed, I get them free with my medical card.

I know that the body needs the thyroid hormone, my question now is can the 20% of my thyroid that is left produce the level my body needs without the meds.

Back to the cholesterol, where I veered from in the first place (!) the LLV helped me get back to "perfect", but I wonder if I'll stay at "perfect" if I ditch the meds and just go with LLV and diet, given that it's hereditary.

I'm so sorry for the confusion! I can never keep my meds straight!

Vikki, I went off of mine a couple of years ago and started managing it naturally. I was only at 75 mcg, and I don't know what your dose is and how long you've been on it. I'd been on it, and worked up to that dose, over a period of about 7 years.

The oils that help me now, in addition to my other diet and supplement regimen, are Slim and Sassy (metabolic blend, makes sense) and DigestZen, and I think with the DZ it's the extra peppermint and ginger, as well as the healing of my digestive system.

Dietary, I eat spinach salads daily, and salmon patties, fillets, or salmon salad sandwiches almost daily. Eggs should be eaten a couple of times a week as well (no, they're not as bad for your cholesterol as was once thought). I've also eliminated processed foods, eat more whole foods, especially veggies, and eliminated dairy (you can switch to raw dairy, or try kefir, those are supposed to be okay for the thyroid). I also add sea greens to most of my food for the iodine, though others just take iodine drops.

The thyroid is regulated by 3 hormones: T3, T4, and T4 Uptake. Levothyroxine and Synthroid only stimulate the T4, leaving the others low. Managing your thyroid naturally stimulates all three hormones.

Understand that the root cause for both hypothyroid and fibromyalgia is an overgrowth of candida albicans, so doing a GX Assist/PB Assist cleanse would be a good idea, and Melaleuca 3x/day on  the bottoms of your feet, to get that cleared up. Many find that if they get the candida back into balance, the hypothyroid and/or fibromyalgia symptoms go away, as do things like hypertension and high cholesterol. It's good for all of us to take a high quality probiotic to balance our digestive tracts anyway.

I also have inherited high cholesterol, as does my 10 yr old daughter (who was diagnosed at the age of 2). I take levothyroxin and my bloodwork has always had varied results, if my LDL was perfect, my HDH was high, if my total cholesterol was good, my triglicerides where high.

I started taking the LLV pack a month before my last bloodwork appointment, and my results were perfect all around.

I'd still like to know if there is any Oil I could use that would eliminate the need for the levothyroxin. Has anyone been successful in replacing chemical treatment with natural? I was thinking about taking 1/2 my regular dose of levothyroxin but I have 11 months until my next testing appointment!

I keep seeing this come up and I just keep thinking it doesn't really matter what another Dr. or someone says.
The way I approach it with people is start small. It has helped many and NOT effected them negatively, but at the same time it has interfered with others.  Our bodies are all different and just like a prescribed medication some will have reactions.. and some won't.
Basically. You won't really know how it will effect someone until they try it.
Just my thoughts....

I had the same question about grapefruit oil.  I was told that since it is from the rind, people on blood pressure meds that have the warning about grapefruit do not have to worry.  This was according to another IPC's doctor.  Now I am worried again, lol.  Is there a way to ask Dr. Hill about this to gain a clear answer?

Cory,

Be careful with the Slim and Sassy, and also AromaTouch, as these oil blends have grapefruit oil in them, and grapefruit should be avoided by those with high BP, and that does go for the rind as well as the fruit.
