Good question on getting it in their feed. Starter feed is what you need for baby chicks, and it's medicated. I would wait before putting anything in their feed, maybe do that when they're older and outside where you can't diffuse. (?) Since we'll be feeding organic feed and organic garden/kitchen scraps, I'm not really worried about that part, I just want to clean their area with a safe dilution of our lemon oil. 

I know the guy we bought them off of, who has raised them for years, said "Don't over-think it. Most people who mess it up, it's because they over-thought it. Chickens will eat anything and are the easiest animals to raise."

So far, ours have grown to at least twice the size they were when we brought them home, and appear healthy.
